Holidays & Hard Decisions

Hello to my friends and readers. You are probably wondering where I have been. I know it has been a while since I posted on either of my blogs. To answer your question. I have been ill since the day after Thanksgiving. I had a severe throat virus, and then to kick me while I was down the Flu bug found me and decided to finish me off.

Anyone who has a Chronic illness knows a simple cold makes you feel like you are dying, when your system is already beaten down by illness. Recovery is a bitch. It has taken me almost a month to get to feeling back to normal. Then I get another knock down in the family arena. Now I am in the middle of making some of the hardest decisions of my life.

One bright light is that my brother who was living in Washington state, finally moved down to Texas to join the rest of the family. He and my other brother have kept me from losing my mind this last couple weeks. I don’t think I could have done it without them.

As many of you know I am the adult caregiver to my elderly, disabled mother. Although she has some severe health issues, she had been able to live on her own with home caregivers coming in to help her. This past week and half her health has diminished and now I am in the process of making the hard decision to place her in a skilled care nursing facility. She has reached the point where she needs twenty-four-hour care.

This has been hard for me to do, because I know that she doesn’t want to go. She worked in these places all her life, and she doesn’t want to end her life in one. It has reached the point though that there are no other alternatives left.

I have made the decision to put my books, and my two blogs on hold until after the New Year. I hope to return to writing once all the things, that seem to continually pull me away from my desk are handled.

I hope all my loyal readers will be patient with me because we are just getting into some interesting moments for the Cat’s Eye Gang. We are soon to find out what the Triad is, and what is in store for the gang once they find it. So, hang in there, exciting days are ahead of us.

I hope you all have a Happy Holiday. Also may the New Year bring you Bright Blessings, Laughter, and Love.
